Thank you for being inspired to take action. It is because of people like you, that Lincoln will truly prosper. Here is a list of what actions for innovation might look like:

Businesses/Anchor Institutions

  • Mentor small and emerging businesses
  • Connect with educators and afterschool programs to deliver innovative/entrepreneurship opportunities to students
  • Develop and support a Jump Start or Reverse Pitch challenge by identifying problems your organization is facing and creating a competition for individuals to pitch innovative solutions that you may be willing to invest in
  • Participate in making Lincoln’s culture one of innovation within ALL sectors: Identify at least one innovative stretch goal for your organization and share it with others who may be inspired by it
  • Figure out how your organization can play a role in making Lincoln the dominant start-up city in the region
  • Consider how your organization can incent innovation

Faith Community

  • Celebrate success stories about community members who have innovated in big and small ways
  • Participate in making Lincoln’s culture one of innovation within ALL sectors: Identify at least one innovative stretch goal for your organization and share it with others who may be inspired by it
  • Articulate a faith-based rationale for creativity and promote it throughout your community

Neighborhoods

  • Support and promote local small businesses
  • Participate in making Lincoln’s culture one of innovation within ALL sectors: Identify at least one innovative stretch goal for your neighborhood and share it with others who may be inspired by it

Nonprofit and Cultural Organizations

  • Participate in making Lincoln’s culture one of innovation within ALL sectors: Identify at least one innovative stretch goal for your organization and share it with others who may be inspired by it
  • Work with other sectors to advocate for and grow entrepreneurship and innovation

Philanthropy

  • Develop and support funding opportunities that promote innovation
  • In all philanthropic investments, consider the role of innovation in making Lincoln an attractive and vibrant community
  • Invest in Prosper Lincoln to continue to advance this part of the Community Agenda

Public Sector

  • Explore how the libraries may serve as innovation and entrepreneurship hubs
  • Identify and mitigate the barriers to innovation and creativity within your organization

P-16 Education

  • Implement concepts of innovation and creativity throughout curricula
  • Collaborate with other sectors to create Jump Start challenges and other opportunities to spur innovation
  • Participate in making Lincoln’s culture one of innovation within ALL sectors: Identify at least one innovative stretch goal for your organization and share it with others who may be inspired by it
  • Create Maker Spaces for students and the public and/or participate in other Maker Spaces throughout the community

Individuals

  • Support and promote Lincoln’s small businesses
  • Volunteer to mentor a child and help them think creatively about their future
